The Walker AMBUCS club was established in 1981 as the Walker-Standale AMBUCS, and is comprised of business men and women from the Walker-West Side area. Since the Walker club began, we have been very involved with Indian Trails Camp, a camp for physically challenged children and adults, located at Aman Park. Monetarily we have donated over $600,000 to ITC. We have also been out to camp to help out with every kind of physical project you can imagine. The first ever AmTryke Race Track is at ITC thanks to Walker AMBUCS. We also have provided camp with AmTrykes to let campers have the experience of riding a bike, some for the first time ever. Last fall Walker AMBUCS saw a need for a shed to house fishing supplies and life jackets at Root Beer Lake. Now there is a beautiful shed overlooking the lake. Walker AMBUCS raise money through Nut Sales, Annual Golf outing, AmTryke Lunches, Raffles and other fund raising activities throughout the year.

AmBility and AMBUCS Scholars are the two national service projects of AMBUCS. Within the AmBility project is the AmTryke program. This program is designed to give children with disabilities their first set of wheels. This unique therapeutic tricycle is hand and/or foot driven. It improves motor coordination, increases self-esteem and is fun to ride! Our club was able to donate over 75 of the AmTrykes this past year.

A long-running success story, the AMBUCS Scholars, scholarships for therapists, project represents the largest single private source of educational grants for therapists in America. AMBUCS has provided over 5 million dollars to educate physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists and hearing audiologists. Both of these projects are powerful symbols of our club's national mission: to create independence for people with disabilities.
