Jack M. Fettig

Jack was a good friend and a great AMBUC. His presence will carry on in the AMBUCS organization and his wonderful stories will be told for many years to come. It was 27 years ago Jack helped to charter the Walker AMBUCS with its mission to help people with disabilities, although as Jack would tell it – “I thought I was joining a hunting club?!”.

Jack helped to build the Walker chapter from the ground up and make it what it is today. Over the past few years, although he’s been less active since retirement, he would still make time at meetings and fell right in with everyone.  Now Jack may have had his favorites (sometimes he’d flirt a bit with the women members), but everyone always felt welcome when Jack was near, with a story and a smile.

Jack loved helping out at Indian Trails Camp. He especially enjoyed seeing people with disabilities having a great time doing those things that “normal” people do at summer camp.  In addition, to volunteering Jack served on the board of directors for many years.

Jack had many interests and hobbies, but he was a devoted family man who kept his friends close and his beloved Spartans maybe a little closer.  Each year he had a standing wager for the Spartan/Wolverine football game where the loser had to buy the winner a drink…and yes, it was Dewar’s on the rocks, of course!  Of all of the many adjectives to describe Jack Fettig, the one we keep coming back to and the one most fitting is “Friend”.

We will all miss Jack with his wonderful sense of humor and heartfelt loyalty.  Our prayers go out to Beth and his children, grandchildren and great grandchild as they will certainly feel the loss of a great man!
